Inspired by the duck-shaped pottery from the Gaya Kingdom period, the name "Todeogi" was created by combining Korean letter "To" meaning soil (earth) from the ancient burial mounds in Mangdeok-ri, Juchon-myeon, Gimhae City, and the English word "Duck." The historical artifact of Gimhae was symbolized into a cute and friendly character.
The duck is a mysterious bird that travels between land, water, and sky, connecting the present and the afterlife. It is a symbol of happiness, peace, prosperity, abundance, and disaster prevention and, it can bring good luck to the citizens of Gimhae and tourists visiting the city.
